Judicial Court Aide Program

The Court Aide Program is unavailable until spring 2013

Program Objectives
To provide the opportunities for high school students to:

  • Learn about the Judicial Branch and the services it provides
  • Complete school mandated community service hours required for graduation
  • Contribute to the community
  • Gain valuable experience and references
  • Further explore career interests and vocational skills

Program Availability
This program is offered twice per year:
  • Spring Court Aide Program: May 1st to May 30th
  • Summer Court Aide Program: June 1st to July 31st
Application Deadlines
  • Spring Session: Application packets must be received no later than April 1st
  • Summer Session: Application packets must be received no later than May 1st

Placement Opportunities
Placement opportunities vary by location and are not available in all areas of the State. Openings are limited.
 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be a high school senior with an interest in the judicial system
  • Recommended and referred by their guidance/career counselor or other school administrator
  • Successfully complete the application, clearance and selection process
  • Be available to work a minimum of three hours per day two days per week
  • Must disclose any pending matter before the Court the Program Coordinator
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Have the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Must participate in the Court Aide Orientation

Upon receipt, the Coordinator reviews the application for completeness and eligibility. The Coordinator schedules a time to meet with the candidate to discuss available positions and qualifications/skills required.

The Coordinator schedules an interview with the potential placement site supervisor and the candidate. Upon acceptance by the Workplace Host and the V/I Coordinator, a mandatory background check will be conducted prior to the start date.
