CRIME OF VIOLENCE
"Crime of violence"
shall apply to and include any of the following-named crimes or an
attempt to commit any of the same: Murder, manslaughter, kidnapping,
sexual assault and sexual assault with a firearm, assault in the first
or second degree, robbery, burglary, larceny and riot in the first

Source:
General Statutes § 53-202 (a) (2) (applies to § 53a-202, Machine Guns).
Commentary:
This statutory definition is limited in application to the use of
machine guns. Other statutes refer to crimes of violence, and the
instructions for those offenses apply an ordinary meaning to the
phrase: "A crime of violence is one in which physical force is exerted
for the purpose of violating, injuring, damaging, or abusing another
person."
